Cause of Baldness
It has been proven that male pattern baldness or Androgenetic Alopecia is directly related to genetic factors. The hair in the areas prone to baldness are sensitive to the male hormone testosterone which causes reduced growth and thinning of hair in these areas. Some men have baldness only in the front or the vertex, while in others it is more severe. But no matter how extensive the baldness, there is always a “Horseshoe” shaped area of permanent hair at the back and sides of the head. Scientists have found that these hair genetically resist the effect of male hormones. Such hair when transplanted into bald areas continues to survive and grow permanently. This forms the basis of hair transplantation.
